The transport half of this is straightforward. From E6 the A13 and North Circular reach the M25 quickly, and from there it is the M20 down to Dover for the ferry or Folkestone for the tunnel. Compared with a move leaving the South West or the North, the domestic leg is short and predictable.
The difficult half is at this end, and it is the same difficulty as any Newham move — getting a loaded vehicle away from a third-floor flat on a permit-controlled street. We treat the London end of an international move with exactly the same planning as a local one, because that is where it actually goes wrong.
Collections beyond London

A move to Beckton gets packed one way. A move to Valencia gets packed another. Goods crossing water are handled more times, sit longer in a vehicle and meet humidity changes. So soft furnishings get moisture protection, cartons are double-wall, corners are boarded, and polished surfaces are wrapped rather than blanketed.
Customs, plainly
Since the UK left the EU, household goods need a formal export declaration and a proper inventory, and relief on a genuine change of residence has to be applied for rather than assumed. We prepare the declarations and work with agents at the destination.
The thing that actually holds loads up is the inventory. "Household effects, various" is not an inventory. We will spend an extra hour with you getting it right, because that hour is cheaper than a fortnight of your furniture waiting on a query.
Groupage or dedicated
Most household moves travel as groupage. A dedicated vehicle makes sense for larger volumes, immovable dates, or where the far end needs a specific vehicle size. We will tell you which yours is rather than selling you the bigger one. Transit windows depend on the crossing, consolidation and customs clearance, so the estimate comes with your written quote rather than as a promise here.

Do you only collect in Newham?
East Ham is where we are based, but a European load consolidates before it crosses, so the pickup point is flexible. We collect across London routinely and handle collections from Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow and Edinburgh as part of consolidated runs. Split households — some things here, some at a family address elsewhere — are common and we plan for them.
What is groupage?
Your goods share a vehicle with other consignments going the same way. It is how most household moves to Europe travel, because very few people fill a lorry on their own. The trade-off is scheduling: the load goes when the vehicle is ready rather than the hour you finish packing.
How does leaving from east London work in practice?
Well, in transport terms. The A13 and North Circular put a vehicle onto the M25 quickly, and from there it is the M20 to Dover or the Eurotunnel terminal at Folkestone. The domestic leg is short compared with most of the country — the complications are at the London end, with parking and stairs, not on the road.
What does customs need now?
A UK export declaration, an import entry at destination, and a detailed inventory. If you are moving your home rather than furnishing a second property, transfer-of-residence relief applies but must be claimed with evidence. We prepare the paperwork with you.
Can you pack for an international move?
Yes, and for anything crossing water we would recommend it. Export packing is a heavier standard than a local move — double-wall cartons, corner protection, moisture control on soft furnishings — because the goods are handled more times and sit longer in a vehicle.
What cannot travel?
Fuel, gas bottles, aerosols, paint, solvents and anything flammable, plus restrictions on certain foods and plants entering the EU. We send the list before you start packing.
